Purpose
The LS Sprintcar Alliance is created to provide a collaborative forum that will enable a common set of rules across the United States, Australia, and world, for use in sprintcar racing. The sprintcar industry is overdue for the cost, durability, and performance benefits that are possible from the GM LS engine platform. However, the true benefits can only be realized if the LS engine platforms are implemented with a common set of rules within each class, or power range. The alternative, as has been seen many times in motorsports, is a segmented, localized rule package. Localized rule packages, that utilize different, even minor, specifications and components can hinder or prevent adoption and growth of an otherwise beneficial technology.
When nationwide, and worldwide, sanctioning bodies adopt a common set of rules, all stakeholders within the industry benefit. Racers can purchase and invest in equipment with the confidence that it could be used or sold in a wide range of geographic markets. Promoters can start and build car counts by growing an existing population of racers, without the burdon of writing a new set of rules.
The members of the LS Sprintcar Alliance collaborate to create recommendations of standard LS engine rules. The goal of the LSSA standard engine rules is to minimize the cost of building an engine at the target power level for each class. A further goal is to avoid creating manufacturer monopolies.
The alliance will also collaborate to develop standard methods of inspection and rule enforcement.
Mission
Share best practice and solid reasoning to adopt a standard set of specifications for each major class of engine.
Share emerging trends that represent opportunity or risk for the technical, economical, or political health of LS based sprintcar engines. Alliance members are productive and constructive contributors to finding solutions that serve our purpose.
Provide a common message, and/or, central voice for informing the world of sprint car racing.
